19-year-old charged with Operation while Impaired

Brantford Police Service19-year-old charged with Operation while Impaired

Officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call regarding a driving complaint in the area of Icomm Drive and Market Street South at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Thursday July 21, 2022.

A description of both the suspect and vehicle was provided.

Officers attended and located the suspect and vehicle at an Icomm Drive location. Investigation revealed the vehicle had previously been reported as stolen to the Brantford Police Service and the suspect was found to be in violation of a valid recognizance.

While speaking with the suspect, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was read his demand to be examined by a drug recognition expert and transported for a drug recognition expert evaluation to be performed. The evaluating officer formed the opinion that the subject’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drug.

Search incident to arrest located identification in possession of the accused which was not in his name. 

As a result, a 19-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drugs
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Breach of Recognizance

The accused was held for a bail hearing and the involved vehicle was returned to the registered owner.
