The County of Brant received $2000 from the Brant Waterways Foundation for the naturalization planting at the Burford Lions Art Cadman Park on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
“We are grateful for this generous donation from Brant Waterways Foundation and for the work they do to protect our waterways,” said Mayor David Bailey. “With the help of the Brant Waterways Foundation, the Grand River Conservation Authority and the community, we planted 600 native trees and shrubs at the Burford Lions Park.”
The event took place to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The Brant Waterways Foundation’s donation funded the project and foundation members coordinated the tree planting volunteers.
The Grand River Conservation Authority supplied trees and shrubs and provided planting tutorials for the participants to promote plant survival. The Lions Club of Burford provided refreshments and BBQ for participants.
“Although it was a rainy day, it was great to see the community come out and help restore a beautiful park with its native species,” said Mayor Bailey. “It was a great day in Brant.”
