Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #605 in St. George presented a cheque for $35,185.07 to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

The Legion made the presentation following a successful fundraiser on May 5 where nearly 600 people came out to raise money for research into Glioblastoma, an aggressive and fast-growing brain tumour.

Hendrickson and Bell pitched the idea to host the fundraiser to the Legion after meeting someone whose husband lives with Glioblastoma.

The event also honoured The Tragically Hip lead singer Gord Downie, who died in October 2017 following a battle with brain cancer.

It featured Grace 2, a Tragically Hip cover band, as well as multiple Tragically Hip-themed raffle and silent auction prizes.
