A 52-year-old Brantford man is facing charges in relation to an attempted bank robbery at a Colborne Street and Icomm Drive location.

Officers with the Brantford Police Service received a 911 call to report a robbery in progress at a bank located at Colborne Street and Icomm Drive at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

The accused is reported to have entered the bank, allegedly demanding money from an employee. The accused received an amount of currency before exiting the building through the main doors.  

Brantford police officers were in the area and able to quickly respond. Officers arrived on scene as the accused was exiting the bank. The accused was apprehended without incident to police custody at 12:25 p.m.

The funds from the bank were recovered.

No physical injuries were sustained by employees or customers who were in the bank at the time of the incident.

As a result, a 52-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with one count of Robbery, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused was held for bail.
