The City of Brantford will be hosting the 2023 Healthy Aging Passport Finale at Mohawk Park Pavilion from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Guests, older residents (55-plus) and community partners, will have an opportunity enjoy a complimentary lunch and refreshments, connect with participating community organizations to learn about their programs and resources, and provide feedback on the 2023 Healthy Aging Passport.
“Older adults will enjoy an afternoon of socializing, connecting and meeting the community organizations who helped make the 2023 Healthy Aging Passport possible,” said Courtney Lebel, Community Development Coordinator, City of Brantford.
Attendees will also hear from Michelle Jamieson, owner of Golden Age Management, on the benefits of social participation. Jamieson will discuss the various benefits of social engagement, the risks of social isolation, and ways to participate and maintain social inclusion throughout later life.
“Humans are innately social creatures from birth and our social health is vital to our quality of life all throughout the aging process,” said Jamieson. “It’s important that we address the risks associated with social isolation among older adults, and why we need to do more to promote social engagement through programs like the Healthy Aging Passport.”

The 2023 Healthy Aging Passport is part of the Brantford Healthy Aging Community Summer Project, funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The Healthy Aging Passport provided older adults with a wide variety of free activities, workshops and events to enjoy from June 1 to September 15, 2023 and focused on increasing social participation and digital literacy, promoting health and wellness, providing community connections, and highlighting new and existing programs and activities for older adults within the community.
