A 58-year-old Brantford man is facing a number of child pornography and firearms related charges as a result of an investigation launched in September 2023 by the Brantford Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
The Brantford Police Service ICE Unit and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) are working together to stop the flow of child pornography into our communities.
In September 2023, the Brantford Police Service ICE Unit were contacted by the CBSA after a child sex doll, destined for the residence of the 58-year-old Brantford man was intercepted.
Members of the Brantford Police Service ICE Unit and the CBSA executed a search warrant at a Newport Road residence, where a 58-year-old man was arrested. Several computers and electronic devices were seized. Additionally, officers also seized a number of unregistered firearms, which were located during the search.
Items such as the child sex doll, are only one of the various forms of child pornography. The Criminal Code of Canada states that sexual images, videos of children and “visual representation” of a child are prohibited.
“This is not a victimless crime. The promotion and purchase of sex dolls resembling a child reinforce relationships of power, inequality, and violence, projecting an unhealthy image, making children vulnerable,” said Inspector Kevin Reeder, Brantford Police Service.
As a result of the investigation, a 58-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Importing child pornography
- Possession of child pornography
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 5
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm x 5
