Local NewsGrandBridge Energy names new President and CEO

The Board of Directors for GrandBridge Energy Inc. announced the appointment of Sarah Hughes to the role of President and CEO, effective immediately.

“Following an extensive search by the Board, we are pleased to welcome Sarah to her new role as President and CEO of GrandBridge Energy. Sarah’s wealth of experience in the utility sector, strategic insights into the organization and strong relationships with our key stakeholders well position her to successfully lead GrandBridge Energy through the energy transition that is underway,” said Terry Young, Chair of the GrandBridge Energy Board of Directors.

Sarah joined GrandBridge Energy’s predecessor company, Energy+, as Chief Financial Officer in 2013, transitioning to the role of Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO for GrandBridge Energy following the merger of the Energy+ and Brantford Power in May 2022.

Hughes has 20 years of experience in the energy sector in senior leadership roles, is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and received her Chartered Director designation (C. Dir.) from the Directors College in 2016. Academic achievements also include a Master of Accounting degree and Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo.

Sarah is active in the industry and the community and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Electricity Distributors Association and the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.

“I am excited to take on the role of President and CEO of GrandBridge Energy. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our talented and dedicated employees to support our vision to be a leader in energy transformation. I look forward to working closely with local partners and pursuing innovative and sustainable opportunities as GrandBridge Energy continues to be driven by our mission to bridge communities to the energy future,” said Hughes.

Young added that Sarah will be replacing Ian Miles, who will retire on November 1, 2023, after a successful career with GrandBridge Energy and legacy utility Energy+.

“The Board thanks Ian for his leadership during the formation of GrandBridge Energy and his role in establishing significant long-term community relationships that reflect both his and GrandBridge Energy’s commitment to our local community,” stated Young.
