City of BrantfordBrantford launches Let's Get Moving Campaign

The City of Brantford launched the  fourth annual “Let’s Get Moving” campaign on Tuesday, October 19.

Brantford, along with its community partners, launched the program, which features four four free workshops to encourage older adults to keep active.

“As an active senior, I am excited to share the new in-person programming being offered this October for older adults,” said Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “I encourage all seniors to take advantage of these fun and engaging ways to stay healthy and active in the community.”

The first event, Let’s Try Chair Yoga will take place on Thursday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodman Park Community Centre. Modo Yoga Brantford will present a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support.

Let’s Sit to Be Fit takes place on Friday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodman Park Community Centre. The program is designed to promote health and fitness for seniors and those wishing to increase strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance.

Let’s Try SAFE ZONE takes place on Tuesday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre. SAFE ZONE is a falls prevention exercise program designed by health professionals to assist seniors in the community to remain independent.

The last event, Let’s Try Chair Yoga, will take place again on Friday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodman Park Community Centre. Modo Yoga Brantford will present a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support.

Space is limited, and registration for each workshop is required by emailing chenderson@brantford.ca or by calling 519-759- 3330 ext. 6279. Learn more at brantford.ca/HealthyLiving.
