A 35-year-old from Norfolk County is facing charges after a vehicle entered a Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program run by Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members in the County of Brant Friday evening.

Officers with the Brant County OPP were conducting a Festive RIDE checkpoint on Muir Road North in the County of Brant at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Friday December 1, 2023.

A vehicle entered the checkpoint and was stopped by police. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 35-year-old Alicia BRYAN, from Norfolk County with the following offence:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

The Festive RIDE campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season.

During the campaign, the motoring public can expect to see an increased OPP presence as officers conduct RIDE initiatives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the province.

Ontario citizens are reminded to do their part by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed either.
