Brantford BulldogsBrantford Bulldogs sign top prospect Briir Long

Matt Turek, General Manager of the Brantford Bulldogs, announced that the team has signed forward Briir Long, a North Bay product, to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

Long recently skated in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) Top Prospects showcase in Ayr representing the St. Thomas Stars.

The skilled forward has posted 24 goals and 14 assists for 38 points within 30 games of his first year of junior eligibility.

A tenth-round selection, 189th overall in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Long played with the North Bay Trappers for his U15 AAA season before moving the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) for his draft year with the Mississauga Senators U16 AAA.

After seven points in four games at the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Cup, he solidified his OHL draft standing and made an impression at both development camp and training camp with the Bulldogs before breaking out in St. Thomas.

“Briir Long’s development continues to impress, and we are excited to receive his commitment to the Brantford Bulldogs,” said Turek. “To do what Briir has already done as a 16-year-old in a very, very good league (GOJHL) gives a glimpse at his tremendous potential. We are excited to add Briir’s skill set and character to our group moving forward.”
