Dr. Jane Goodall returns to Sanderson Centre this spring

Arts and EntertainmentDr. Jane Goodall returns to Sanderson Centre this spring

Dr. Jane Goodall will be returning to Brantford this spring when she presents Reasons for Hope at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts on Monday, April 8, 2024.

This will be Dr. Goodall’s second time at the Sanderson Centre. The Sanderson Centre first welcomed Dr. Jane Goodall for a speaking event in 2018; following the initial announcement, that event sold out in a week, making it the fastest sellout the theatre has ever had.

Dr. Jane Goodall first set foot in the forests of Tanzania in 1960, armed with little more than a notepad, a pair of binoculars and a dream of living in Africa and observing wildlife. From the moment she witnessed a chimpanzee make a tool to the moment she decided to leave the park in order to save the chimpanzees she cared for, Dr. Goodall will describe her extraordinary scientific breakthroughs in animal behaviour and her journey to becoming one of the world’s most prominent active conservationists. Dr. Goodall’s talks never fail to inspire people of all ages as she recounts her unique experiences as a young woman working alone in the rainforest and her hope for a future where people live in harmony with nature.

Sanderson Centre Members and Centre Stage Patrons have early access to ticket sales for this event, and tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 26, 2024 at noon.

An addition to the Sanderson Centre’s 2023-2024 season, the event is being co-presented by the Sanderson Centre and the James Hillier Foundation.

“As a leading figure in conservation for the last 60 years, and a prominent speaker on the environmental crises and threats facing biodiversity, we are greatly looking forward to bringing Dr. Goodall to Brantford,” said Chuck Beach, a Director of the James Hillier Foundation. “She speaks to an incredibly important message of spreading hope through action – and inspiring our students to turn their impact into making the world a better place.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Goodall back to the Sanderson Centre,” added Glenn Brown, Theatre Manager. “As one of the world’s foremost voices on conservation and champion of the power of our individual action, Dr. Goodall is an inspirational speaker. It’s going to be an extraordinary, powerful evening for our audience.”
