Brant Youth Volleyball Club U-18 Tornadoes won bronze at the Furlani Cup held in Niagara Falls on Friday, February 9, 2024.

The Tornadoes opened up the tournament against the host Niagara Rapids Dynamite, falling in three sets, 23-25, 25-21, 11-15. After losing their first match, they then took on Toronto E381, winning in straight sets, 25-23, 25-22.

The Tornadoes battled the Niagara Rapids Rush in the quarterfinals, easily defeating them in three sets, 22-25, 25-16, 15-13 to advance to the semis against the Hamilton Smash Strikers. The Strikers dominated the opening set on their way to the straight sets victory, 15-25, 22-25, leaving the Tornadoes to battle it out for third place.

In the bronze medal match, the Tornadoes, once again, battled the Dynamite, winning a tightly-contested match in three sets, 25-16, 25-27, 15-11.

With the bronze medal win, the Brant Youth Volleyball Club now has ten podium finishes on the season, including one gold, six silver and three bonze-medal finishes.

Outstanding players at the tournament were: Grace Sargla, Reese Ireland and Kimberlee Nicholson.
