Autism Dog Services encouraging fundraising efforts

Local NewsAutism Dog Services encouraging fundraising efforts

Autism Dog Services is encouraging families that are waiting for their service dog to do some fundraising as families generally wait about two years.

“It went beyond our expectation that Autism Dog Services received a generous donation of $7000 from our waitlist family in which their son with autism collected cans and bottles for the past two months and donated all the proceeds to us. It certainly was a great and welcomed gift celebrating World Autism Day”, said Adele Alfano, Fund Development Manager for Autism Dog Services (ADS).

Waitlist mom Sheryl said that “we did the bottle and can drive because we wanted to give back to Autism Dog Services because our son Keegan is on the waitlist for a service dog. We are looking forward to the journey for Keegan, watching him grow and learn from his dog”.

As well, waitlist mom Jenn also had a t-Shirt fundraiser for ADS to celebrate World Autism Day and donated $1500 to ADS from the sales. The t-shirts were original designs with messages of “see the able not the label”, “love needs no words” and “celebrate minds of all kinds”.

Vicky Spadoni, ADS Executive Director said “We are so appreciative when the waitlist and graduate families get behind our initiatives or create their own fundraisers,” added Vicky Spadoni, Executive Director of Autism Dog Services.
