Impaired driver located by K-9 unit after collision

The Six Nations Police K9 Unit successfully tracked an individual who fled the scene of a single vehicle collision on Cayuga Road at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024.  

Police were notified of the collision and witnesses on scene provided a description of the driver of the motor vehicle who left the scene prior to police arrival.

Once police arrived at the scene, officers located a severely damaged vehicle, which had collided with the guard rails along the S bend of the roadway.

The Six Nations Police K9 Officer was dispatched  to the scene. The Police Service Dog was successfully able to locate an individual  matching the description provided shortly thereafter. The male had injuries consistent with being involved in a motor vehicle collision and Six Nations Emergency Medical Service was dispatched to attend and transported the male to a local area hospital with minor injuries.  

As a result of the investigation, the Six Nations Police have arrested and charged Nicholas JACOBS (22 years old) of Ohsweken, ON with the following criminal offences:

– Dangerous Driving 

– Impaired Operation 

– Alcohol per se Offence 

– Fail to Stop at Accident 

– Mischief over $5,000  

– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit 

– Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle 

– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence  

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.
