Brantford man facing Operation while Impaired charges

Brant OPPBrantford man facing Operation while Impaired charges

A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Bishopsgate Road.

Members of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a passenger vehicle on Bishopsgate Road in Brant County after observing the vehicle driving erratically at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Brant County Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Michael MEADE, a 50-year-old from Brantford was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container liquor
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 19, 2024.
