The Brantford Red Sox staged a late-inning comeback effort but ultimately fell short in a 3-2 loss to the London Majors on Friday, July 19, 2024.
In the first inning, the Red Sox scored first on a sacrifice fly by Jeremie Veilleux. Brantford had an opportunity to expand their lead with a runner on first and second with two outs, but Ethan Paulos struck out to end the inning.
After two scoreless innings, the Majors got to Red Sox starter Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo in the third. Gibson Krzeminski hit an RBI double, scoring Ty Mosher to even the game at one apiece.
In the next inning, the Majors took the lead. With one out, Byron Reichstein hit an RBI double. Two batters later, Victor Plaz tallied an RBI of his own on a single. Through four innings, London led 3-1.
The score remained 3-1 for London as the game headed to the late innings. In the eighth, Nick Burdett gave the Red Sox fans hope with his solo home run, his fourth of the season, to pull the home side to within a run.
But that was as close as the Red Sox would get as they were retired in order in the ninth to end the game.
Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo (0-4) pitched into the sixth inning for the Red Sox but ended up with the loss. Alvarez DeLugo struck out three batters but gave up three runs, all earned on six hits and walked two.
