Six Nations Bingo collecting donations for local schools

Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) and its division, Six Nations Bingo, announced the return of their Stuff the Bus campaign on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

The campaign, which will run throughout the month of August, aims to collect donations of school supplies from Bingo patrons and partners to assist local Six Nations schools in preparing for the upcoming school year. The donations will be dispersed among each of the seven local elementary schools on the territory (Emily C. General, I.L. Thomas, Oliver M. Smith, J.C. Hill, Jamieson, Skaronhyase’kó:wa The Everlasting Tree School, and Kawenni:io/Gaweni:yo).

Donations will be accepted at the Six Nations Bingo Hall (2585 Chiefswood Rd) from August 6, 2024, until August 24. Any Bingo patron who donates will receive a bingo card to be used during special games taking place on August 24.

Suggested donations of school equipment and supplies include:

  • School Supplies: whiteboard markers, glue sticks, rulers, pencils, erasers, pens, sharpies, highlighters, whiteout, pencil cases, staplers and staples, staple removers, tape, calculators, scissors, binders, dividers, file folders, duotangs, clipboards, notebooks, paint, paint brushes, watercolour paper, electric pencil sharpener, washable markers, permanent markers, crayons, pencil crayons, construction paper, printer paper, lined paper, sketch books, coloured Bristol board, plastic paper sleeves, art supplies, index cards, paper clips, tissue boxes, paper towels, batteries (AA and AAA)
  • School Recreation: playing cards, playdough, kinetic sand, magnet tiles, sports equipment, chalk, balls, sunscreen, 2’ x 2’ sensory bin
  • Student Supplies: backpacks, lunch bags/boxes, water bottles, hygiene products, umbrellas, coats, boots/shoes, gloves, hats, socks

“I am pleased to see the return of Stuff the Bus as it gives us an additional avenue to contribute to the education and success of Six Nations students,” said Waylon Iserhoff, Chief Operating Officer of SNGRDC. “I encourage our Bingo customers, both new and returning, to participate in the campaign by making a donation to help our students thrive during the upcoming school year.”

Representatives from the seven schools will be present at Six Nations Bingo on August 24 to collect the donated items.
