City of BrantfordLet's Get Moving Campaign to return for eighth year

The City of Brantford, and its community partners, are launching the eighth annual “Let’s Get Moving” campaign featuring a variety of activities to enhance older adults’ overall health throughout the month of October.

This year, the municipality and its community partners have organized a variety of programs that not only focus on physical activity, but mental and social health as well.

“I am pleased that the City is once again offering the annual Let’s Get Moving program with a focus on physical health as well as mental and social health,” said Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford. “This free series of programs will provide older adults with the opportunity to get active, stay connected with others, and enhance their mental well-being.”

The 2024 Let’s Get Moving & Mindful series offers nine programs, including:

  • Brain Bingo: similar to traditional bingo except using words connected to mental health instead of the usual numbers
  • Chair Yoga: a gentle and mindful form of yoga that’s done while seated or using a chair for balance
  • Dance Fit: a dance-based class that involves moving to music
  • Grow your garden: plant a succulent and decorate the pot
  • P-Aint Away: participants will be encouraged to paint the pain away, fostering a space to view painting as a form of healing
  • Prioritizing your Mental Well-being: learn practical ways to manage stress
  • S.A.F.E. Zone: a fall-prevention based exercise program
  • Social Gathering: enjoy making connections and networking with others
  • Music and Movement: dance to songs and play small percussion instruments

Registration is required for most sessions. To learn more about the Let’s Get Moving & Mindful program, including registration details, visit Brantford.ca/LetsGetMoving.

  • Brantford Public Library – Main Branch, 173 Colborne Street
