Intimate partner violence investigation results in charges

Brant County OPP members were dispatched to an address in the County of Brant to a reported assault at approximately 8:21 p.m. on Sunday October 13, 2024.

It was determined two individuals became involved in a dispute at the residence, resulting in one individual being assaulted.

As a result, a 49-year-old from Etobicoke has been charged with the following offences:

·      Assault – Spousal

·      Failure to Comply with Undertaking

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Brant County OPP recover stolen vehicle

On Monday October 14, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County responded to a reported stolen vehicle in St. George. It was determined that some time between 10:00 p.m. on October 13, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. on October 14, 2024, unknown suspects removed a camouflage 2018 Can-Am 570 Outlander All-Terrain Vehicle from the outdoor area of a Howell Road address. The vehicle has since been recovered.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or to remain anonymous, call Brant-Brantford Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

27-year-old Cambridge resident facing Stunt Driving and Speeding charges

Members of the Brant County OPP initiated a traffic stop on Brant Road in the County of Brant at approximately 9:27 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024.

The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling 167 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Police have charged a 27-year-old from Cambridge with the following offences:

·        Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed and

·        Speeding in excess of 50km/h over the speed limit.

The vehicle was impounded at the roadside for 14 days and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days. The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.
