Brantford Mayor hosts second annual “Great Light Fight” contest

Local NewsBrantford Mayor hosts second annual "Great Light Fight" contest

Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford, is hosting his second Annual Great Light Fight contest.

The city-wide holiday lights competition asks residents of Brantford to share their light displays and help raise spirits and bring festive excitement to the community. Submissions for the contest have started to come in and the winners will be announced Friday, December 24, 2021.

“Take part in a little friendly competition while having a lot of fun,” said Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “The Mayor’s Great Light Fight aims to bring the community together and to showcase the incredible displays and effort residents put into adding joy to the season.”

This year’s three best displays will receive a “Best of Brantford” gift basket made up of some of the Mayor’s favourite local business finds and holiday gifts. Some local vendors include Sweet Bakery, Strodes BBQ, Steve’s Tea Company, Finders Keepers and many more! The full vendor list will be shared on Mayor Davis’ social media pages to highlight support local businesses this holiday season.

To enter displays into the contest, residents can visit https://letstalkbrantford.ca/the-mayor-s-great-light-fight. The contest is open until December 21, 2021. While there, be sure to add your display to the Brantford Holiday Lights map to help the community plan out their annual drive through the City to marvel at the dazzling lights. Join the conversation on social media with the hashtag #LightFightBrantford. Registered homes will be judged by Mayor Davis and the Mayor’s Office based on originality, theme, ability to capture holiday spirit and enthusiasm. Any questions or concerns around the contest can be sent to officeofthemayor@brantford.ca.
