City provides update on Ava Road Bridge project

City of BrantfordCity provides update on Ava Road Bridge project

The City of Brantford announced that Ava Road Bridge will re-open in time for the spring season, with an anticipated opening date of April 2025, weather permitting.

As part of the Ava Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project, temporary closures have been necessary. Since the week of May 27, 2024, the bridge has been closed to all traffic, along with vehicle and truck traffic closures on Ava Road/Brant Avenue between Parkside Drive and the western entrance to W. Ross Macdonald School for the Blind. Detour routes remain in place to assist residents navigating the area.

The timeline reflects the extensive work required to accommodate the CN rail corridor, train frequencies and site-specific conditions encountered during construction. Until the project is complete and the area is deemed safe for motorists and pedestrians, the current closures will remain in place.

The City of Brantford is committed to ensuring the safety and longevity of our infrastructure, including the Ava Road Bridge, a vital connection over the Canadian National Railway (CNR) tracks linking Brant Avenue to Paris Road.

Additional details related to the Ava Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project, including information on the planned truck, vehicular, and pedestrian detour routes can be found on the City’s website at brantford.ca/AvaRoadBridge.
