Brant OPPDrumbo resident facing charges after multi-vehicle collision

Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at approximately 11:51 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The incident occurred on Highway 403 and involved two vehicles that had left the roadway and entered the ditch.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed both vehicles unoccupied, with the drivers being assessed by EMS. The driver of a truck reported being struck from behind by another vehicle while traveling in the right lane. The collision caused both vehicles to veer into the ditch.

Officers interviewed the driver of the second vehicle, identified as Mathew KEMP. During the interaction, officers observed signs consistent with impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the odour of alcohol.

Based on the investigation, officers believed KEMP had been operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. KEMP was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the hospital for further assessment.

As a result, Mathew KEMP a 32-year-old from Drumbo has been charged with the following:

• Operation While Impaired

• Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

Mathew KEMP is scheduled to appear at the Brantford Court of Justice on January 23, 2025.
