New arcade opens in Brantford’s Cordage Heritage District

Brantford’s newest arcade, Gamerz Galaxy, celebrated their grand opening on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Gamerz Galaxy is located in the Cordage Heritage District, across from Spool Takeout, and owned by Brantford resident Kunal Sukhija.

The family-friendly arcade features a variety of games for different age groups. They have a café with pizza and other snacks, birthday party packages, and three party rooms  with a capacity of up to 100 people. They’re also planning to host regular gaming tournaments and special events.

In usual arcade style, you pay to play with tokens. Redeemable prizes include large stuffed animals, hanging from the ceiling. They describe themselves as Brantford’s “only arcade” and the “leading gaming centre in Brantford.”

Saturday’s grand opening included a ribbon cutting ceremony and discounts on food, along with discounts on future party bookings that were made that day.

Sukhija said he wanted to open an arcade because he saw a gap in local entertainment options. In addition to the arcade, Sukhija works in the housing market and flips homes, buying, renovating and selling houses. He’s been researching the entertainment market for the last two years, which has included checking out facilities like the Rec Room and Dave and Busters.

“We were looking at something similar to open in Brantford, because we don’t have anything… in the arcade section,” he said. “A long time ago, like four years, five years back, we had one, but due to the COVID, it was shut down.” From there, they got the idea to go into the business.

Brock accepts tokens from Sukhija to play Super Bikes 3, a motorcycle driving game. The arcade’s games include Fast & Furious arcade, claw machine, Nerf arcade, Jurassic Park arcade, air hockey and more.

He took the leap last year and the wheels have been in motion for the arcade since early 2024, ordering machines and organizing everything else needed to open an arcade.

“Finally, we got our approvals last month in December, and we are now operational from December 20,” he said. They had a busy holiday season, with more than 200 guests every day during the holidays, Sukhija said.

Sukhija described the response from the community so far as a “mix” of reactions, with some people “really appreciating us” while other people are “expecting more.”

“They are expecting like, why don’t you have more machines? Why don’t you have pinballs?” Sukhija said.

In response, they’ve already ordered several more machines, Sukhija said, including boxing and golfing simulators and pinball.

He said he’s grateful to the community for the support that they have seen.

“We just want to thank the people for the reaction they have, supporting us,” Sukhija said.
