Brant County Health Unit (BCHU) provided its daily COVID-19 update. All statistics are as of today, Wednesday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m.

Currently, there are 538 total active cases with 166 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours and eight hospitalizations.

Since the pandemic began, BCHU has reported 5,238 total confirmed cases, 4,668 total resolved cases and 32 deaths.

In other COVID-19-related news, Grand Erie District School Board announced there were no elementary school cases in the district in the last 24 hours, but there were two COVID-19 outbreaks declared at Rainham Central within the past 24 hours.

There were no secondary school cases reported in the district in the last 24 hours, but a COVID-19 outbreak was declared at Waterford District High School.

The Province of Ontario reported 10,436 new cases on Wednesday, surpassing the old record of 10,412 cases set on December 25.
