Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) announced the appointment of Michael Lawlor as the new Superintendent of Education on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Lawlor, who will be coming from the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, will start his new role on March 24, 2025.
“I am thrilled to join the BHNCDSB, a region I am well-acquainted with. My dedication lies in nurturing youth leadership, championing effective governance, genuinely listening to students and parents/guardians, and fostering impactful professional development for staff. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with the BHNCDSB senior leadership team and engaging with the vibrant Catholic school communities,” said Lawlor, the newest Superintendent of the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB).
With an impressive career spanning over 20 years in Catholic education, including 12 years as a school administrator, Lawlor brings an extraordinary wealth of knowledge and expertise to the school district. His extensive background in faith leadership, equity and inclusion, student success, curriculum and pedagogy, and community engagement will be instrumental as the Board continues to pursue excellence in Catholic education for all.

Lawlor is a dedicated community member having served on the board of directors for Catholic Family Services and Contact Hamilton for Children’s and Developmental Services. He is also actively involved in his Parish and is a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. Lawlor is passionate about Catholic Education and has served on numerous provincial committees for the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario and presented multiple times at the When Faith Meets Pedagogy conference.
