City of Brantford, in partnership with Brantford Youth Council (BYC), are inviting local youth to participate in an exciting scavenger hunt photo contest and Little Free Library launch party to celebrate Youth Week, which takes place May 1 to May 7, 2025.
National Youth Week is an annual celebration dedicated to honouring youth and their vital contributions to the community.
In addition to the free activities taking place in Brantford during Youth Week, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, youth ages 13 to 25 can enter a photo scavenger hunt contest through the City’s Let’s Talk platform. Participants are invited to visit local public art and points of interest across Brantford, snap a picture and upload them to the photo contest page at letstalkbrantford.ca/youthweek.
“For this year’s Youth Week, we wanted to focus on connecting youth with nature. That’s why we selected niche, artistic and historical local landmarks for the scavenger hunt. We also aimed to highlight local businesses through prizing to local favourites. With the added stress that can arise as the school year winds down, we hope these events will encourage Brantford youth to prioritize their mental health and wellness by getting outdoors and exploring everything our City has to offer,” said Liam McDermott, Vice President of the Brantford Youth Council.
Participants will be eligible to submit one photo per listed scavenger hunt location, and each photo successfully uploaded counts as a single entry to win the following prizes:
- Main prize: total of $165 worth ofgift cards to Brant Sports Excellence, zBTFD, Dairee Delite, Conquer Climb Centre, Altitude Café, Finders Keepers, Palgong Tea Brantford, and Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and a “Brantford” swag bag from Tourism Brantford.
- Second place prize: total of $50 worth of gift cards to Altitude Café, Dairee Delite, Conquer Climb Centre, and Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and a “Brantford” swag bag from Tourism Brantford.
The deadline for photo submissions is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Winners of the contest will be announced on Monday, May 5, 2025, through the City of Brantford and Brantford Youth Council’s Instagram pages. The City and BYC are also hosting a launch party for a new Little Free Library at Rotary Centennial Waterworks Park on Sunday, May 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will feature an acoustic open mic session in the Margot and Paul Williamson Family Pavilion and provide youth with supplies to participate in a community litter clean-up. Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring a piece of young adult literature to add to the Little Free Library. Registration is not required.
