Hundreds of County of Brant residents were left without power after a windstorm on Saturday, December 11.

Environment Canada released a special weather statement on Friday evening for the region, warning of strong winds gusting up to 70 km/h throughout the day on Saturday. The wind warning for the area was lifted late Saturday evening.

Strong winds damaged trees across the County of Brant on Saturday, December 11.

The St. George Firefighters Association also announced that the St. George Santa Claus Parade, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to the strong winds to ensure the safety of spectators. The event has been re-scheduled for Saturday, December 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Emergency crews continue to respond to reports of downed trees in the area, blocking roads and taking down hydro and phone lines.
