New music festival coming to Burford

FeaturesNew music festival coming to Burford

After three years of planning, the Country Roots Music Festival is preparing for their first event at the Burford Fairgrounds on August 12 and 13.

“We originally planned the event for the summer of 2020 until everything got shut down,” Murray Williams said, organizer of the event. “Luckily, every artist and vendor that had committed then decided to hang in there with us until we could finally move forward.”

The two-day festival boasts a lineup of 14 performers with country roots, including headliner Jason McCoy.

Williams said that the event was created in support of the Make A Wish Foundation, an organization close to his family’s heart.

“My niece was actually a recipient of a wish from the foundation,” he said. “My brother-in-law joined up with Make A Wish in London and was hosting some of his own fundraisers. He suggested that we team up together to host something in the Brant area and that’s how the original idea came to be.”

Williams said it is special for organizers to bring an event like this to Burford. He and his family have lived and farmed in the area for five generations.

“Not only did we want to give back to the local community, but we want the event to bring people from out of town to enjoy all that Burford has to offer,” he said.

In addition to musical performances, the Country Roots Music Festival has 40 vendors, and counting, and tons of activities throughout the weekend.

“Our goal is to have something for everyone,” Williams said “The festival is a family affair. We have a full kids zone with inflatables and interactive elements for them.”

Early bird tickets for the event are on sale until May 5. Adult tickets (19+) are $50, youth tickets (13-18) are $30 and kids under 12 are free. Camping is available for the weekend for an additional $50 per site.
