Staffing shortages result in changes to Brantford Transit schedule

City of BrantfordStaffing shortages result in changes to Brantford Transit schedule

Brantford Transit is implementing a modified schedule in order to provide a more reliable service schedule while addressing labour shortages, starting on Monday, June 27.

The organization said that the changes are a result of ongoing staffing shortages and absences due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All current bus routes will remain in place and unchanged. Only the half hour schedule is impacted and will transition to an hourly schedule from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 27.

Morning Service, North West Industrial Area, and Brantford Lift services continue

The current schedule will remain the same during the peak morning hours between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., meaning 30-minute service will continue during these higher traffic travel times. Routes servicing the North West Industrial Area and Brantford Lift service will also remain unchanged. Sunday service will also continue to operate hourly.

Hourly Service Change

Hourly service will be offered from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with regular evening service to continue from Monday to Saturday. The modified schedule will take effect on Monday, June 27, 2022, with the expectation that full service will resume in early September. Brantford Transit is continuing the process to actively recruit additional drivers to enhance service levels and should staffing be increased sooner, half hour service from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. may resume earlier.

The City recognizes that this service change is disruptive to many Brantford Transit riders and we sincerely appreciate the public’s patience and understanding while we work diligently to increase staffing levels.
