Three visitors to the County of Brant are facing impaired driving charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members responded to a collision and conducted several R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoints in Paris over the weekend.
Brant County OPP responded to a reported single-vehicle collision on Highway 403 in the eastbound lanes near Wayne Gretzky Parkway at approximately 10:57 p.m. on Friday August 19, 2022.
Witnesses reported a person fled from the vehicle on foot and entered a bush area nearby. OPP West Region Canine Unit and OPP West Region Emergency Response Team members attended and conducted a search. One person was located, arrested, and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.
Police have charged 53-year-old Zlatko ANTONOV from the City of Mississauga with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
- Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug,
- Fail to remain,
- Driving while under suspension and
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.
On Saturday August 20, 2022, at approximately 2:51 a.m., Brant County OPP stopped a vehicle that entered the RIDE program on Paris Road in Paris to check the driver’s sobriety. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.
Police have charged 31-year-old Marian-Aron FARRAWAY from the City of Hamilton with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine.
On Sunday August 21, 2022, at approximately 2:17 a.m., Brant County OPP stopped a vehicle that entered the RIDE program on William Street in Paris to check the driver’s sobriety. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.
Police have charged 27-year-old Brandon Jeffery KAUFMAN from the City of Brantford with the following offences:
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand and
- Driving while under suspension.
The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
