Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a disturbance at a Dalhousie Street location at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
A report was received that a man was yelling at random people and causing a disturbance near a Dalhousie Street retail store.
The store owner approached the accused and asked him to move along from their property. At this time, the accused became assaultive towards the store owner.
The accused allegedly punched the victim in his side before retrieving a chain from a bicycle, swinging it in attempt to hit the victim.
The victim fled into the store for safety and waited for police to arrive.
Officers arrived on scene and advised the accused he was under arrest.
At this time, the accused became assaultive towards police, resisting arrest.
The victims did not receive any physical injuries.
As a result, a 35-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Cause Disturbance
- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Resist Arrest
The accused was held for bail.
