Brantford man facing Operation while Impaired charge

Officers with the Brantford Police were dispatched to attend a suspicious vehicle related call in the area of Henry Street and Bosworth Court at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022.

A concerned citizen called to report that a male driver was slumped over the wheel of the vehicle and appeared intoxicated. 

Officers attended and located the vehicle with the accused seated in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was running and occupying two lanes of traffic.

In speaking with the accused, officer’s observed signs of impairment. 

A Drug Recognition Evaluation was conducted and indicated that the accused’s ability to operate a vehicle was impaired.

Information was received to indicate that the accused was currently a suspended driver.

As a result, a 52-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired, contrary to Criminal Code 
  • Drive while under suspension, contrary to Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
