County of BrantCounty of Brant offering online burn permit applications

The County of Brant Fire Administration is now offering new online Burn Permit applications.

There are two (2) types of Burn Permits that can be submitted online to the County of Brant Fire Administration team:

1. Residential or Agricultural Burn Permit

  • This is required for burns that do not meet the criteria of recreational burning
  • Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by the Fire Chief and residents will be notified of their application status within a few business days

2. Single Occasion Burn Permit and Special Events Permits include large farm-type fires such as brush, ginseng shades, kilns and/or special events

  • Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by the Fire Chief and will often require a site inspection before approval
  • A fee will also be required before the burn takes place and payment can be made online

For a semi-annual permit to burn materials for commercial, industrial and/or institutional purposes, please contact the Fire Administration team at 519.442.4500.

Cooking fires do not require a burn permit. A cooking fire is a small, confined, supervised fire used to cook food on a grill or barbecue.

Also, recreational fires do not require a burn permit. A recreational fire is contained in a fire pit which is no more than one (1) square meter in area and is at least 15 meters from any building, structure, hedge, fence, road way and/or property line.
