Officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a possible impaired driver in the area of Blackburn Drive and the Veteran’s Memorial Parkway at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Officers observed a man who appeared to be asleep occupying the driver’s seat of the vehicle which was stopped in a live lane of traffic.
After several attempts, officers were able to wake the accused and observed signs of impairment.
The accused was placed under arrest and transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused refused to provide samples.
Further investigation revealed the accused was determined to be suspended from driving.
As a result, the accused, a 32-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
