New surveillance video shows arson suspect in Brantford

Brantford Police ServiceNew surveillance video shows arson suspect in Brantford

Brantford Police have obtained new surveillance video and are asking for help from the public as they try to identify a man wanted for arson.

A small shed was set on fire at the rear of a building in the area of Market Street and Sheridan Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. on October 3.

Police say the fire was set deliberately.

Although the fire was quickly controlled by the Brantford Fire Department, the building did suffer from some property damage.

Police have viewed new surveillance video footage and are trying to identify the man seen in the video.

The video can be viewed on Brantford police’s YouTube and shows the suspect coming into view around 30 seconds into the video.

The suspect is seen in the footage wearing what appears to be a pink blanket draped over their body, blue jeans, and a baseball hat.

A small fire begins to grow in the bottom left-hand side of the footage after the suspect crosses the scene. Emergency services are seen in the video arriving on scene shortly after.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators in identifying this individual is asked to contact Det. Ryan Groen at 519-756-7050 ext. 2206.
