The County of Brant received another donation for the Cainsville Community Centre on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
“On behalf of the Campaign Team, we are grateful to Brant Mutual for the $25,000 donation,” said David Bailey, Mayor for the County of Brant. “This campaign has demonstrated the commitment businesses and residents have to lift up the community and make it even better.”
The two electric vehicle charging stations will be named in honour of this donation.
“Brant Mutual is proud to support the communities we serve, especially projects like the Cainsville Community Centre that is so close to our office and will be used by so many of our Members both now and into the future,” said Jeff Barnard, President and CEO of Brant Mutual Insurance. “Thanks for the opportunity to be a good neighbor to our friends in Cainsville.”
Although Brant Mutual is now located in the City of Brantford, the company started in the County of Brant where it laid roots that have contributed to the success and growth over the past 161 years.
In 1856, the town of Paris, Ontario was established by Hiram Capron. Hiram not only founded Paris, Ontario, but also the Brant Mutual Insurance Company. In 1861, Hiram founded The County of Brant Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company. Hiram brought together local farming citizens to form a group that pooled their resources to help one another in the event of disaster. At that time, they only allowed local farmers to purchase insurance ‘notes’ which constituted insurance policies in today’s world. The company started with 28 notes issued. The company has come a long way over their 161 years and has maintained a ‘community-first’ focus.
The new Cainsville Community Centre was driven by the community and is for the community. Residents and businesses wanted a larger space to gather and celebrate. The new Centre will easily accommodate 350 people and the spaces are large, modern and transformable to meet a variety of needs. Sustainable features have been incorporated into the beautiful, natural design.
