Brantford man charged with Impaired Operation

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call to advise of a possible impaired driver who was reported to be passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle located in a Clench Avenue parking lot at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male slumped over in the driver’s seat of the running vehicle. An open bottle of alcohol was observed in clear view. After several attempts, police woke the man and observed signs of impairment.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law. 

Samples provided were three times the legal limit.

As a result, a 37-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration
  • Impaired Operation

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

21-year-old charged with Impaired Operation after traffic violation

Patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed that failed to stop at a controlled 4-way stop located at Fairview Drive and Willow Drive at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

A traffic stop was initiated and, when speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

As a result, a 21-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following: 

  • Impaired Operation, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Disobey stop sign – Fail to stop, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
