Section of Brantford Rail Trail closed to the public

City of BrantfordSection of Brantford Rail Trail closed to the public

A portion of the Brantford Rail Trail is now closed to the public as a result of a below-ground separation of a drainage pipe discovered by City of Brantford staff on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

At this time, staff continue to evaluate the extent of the damage.

All trail entrances on the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail between Beach Road and Papple Road now feature signs and barricades so community members are notified of the closure.

A detour is in place along Colborne Street East via Locks Road or Papple Road.

Parks and Facilities Services and Operational staff will attend the site regularly to continue to assess the situation and ensure barricades remain in place for the public’s safety.

Further updates, including when the trail can reopen, will be provided as the information becomes available.
