Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault related call for service at a location near Pearl Street and Sydenham Street at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022,

It was reported that a brief verbal altercation occurred between two men which escalated, resulting in one man allegedly striking the other with his motor vehicle. 

The accused then fled the scene, leaving the victim, a 29-year-old man, with minor injuries. 

Further investigation revealed that the accused was operating his vehicle with a suspended licence.

Officers attended and located the accused nearby who was arrested without incident.

As a result, a 58-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following: 

  • Dangerous Operation, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 

The accused was held for bail.
