Brant County Health Unit (BCHU) provided its daily COVID-19 update. All statistics are as of today, Thursday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m.

Currently, there are 100 total active cases with 25 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours and six hospitalizations.

Since the pandemic began, BCHU has reported 4,501 total confirmed cases, 4,371 total resolved cases and 30 deaths.

In other COVID-19-related news, Grand Erie District School Board announced there was four elementary school cases in the district in the last 24 hours, including 1 positive case at Ecole Dufferin, 1 positive case at Thompson Creek and 2 positive cases at Oneida Central, leading to a COVID-19 outbreak being declared at the school.

Over the last 72 hours, there have been a few cases confirmed in secondary schools, including 1 positive case at Delhi District Secondary School on December 15, 1 positive case at Brantford Collegiate Institute on December 14, 1 positive case at Waterford District High School on December 14 and 1 positive case at Paris District High School on December 13.
