20-year-old facing charges after R.I.D.E. checkpoint
A driver is facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members conducted a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint on Broadway Street West in the County of Brant.
On Wednesday December 11, 2024, at approximately 9:41p.m., Brant County OPP stopped a vehicle that entered the R.I.D.E program on Broadway Street West in Paris to check the driver’s sobriety and a roadside screen device was subsequently administered.
As a result, a 20-year-old from the County of Brant was issued a three-day licence suspension and was charged with the following offences:
· Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
· Young Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero

Driver loses licence for 30 days after speeding
A driver had their licence suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days after they were caught driving more than 50km/h over the 50km/h speed limit.
An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County detachment, initiated a traffic stop on Oakland Road in the County of Brant at approximately 5:47 p.m. on Wednesday December 11, 2024.
The officer was conducting speed enforcement when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 100 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.
Police have charged an 18-year-old from Burgessville with the following offences:
· Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – excessive speed
· Speeding – 1-49km/h over posted limited
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.
Impaired driver charged after traffic complaint
A 27-year-old from London has been arrested after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members responded to a traffic complaint Saturday night in the County of Brant.
On Saturday December 14, 2024, at approximately 9:43 p.m., Brant County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 403 in the County of Brant. The caller observed driving behaviour that caused them to be concerned and contacted police. Police located the vehicle where one person was arrested and transported to Brantford Police Service for testing.
Police have charged 27-year-old Stephanie THIVIERGE from London with the following offences:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on January 3, 2025.
