Brant OPPBrant County OPP investigating incident on Hwy. 403

Members of the Brant County OPP are currently investigating an incident that occurred on the westbound lanes of Highway 403, near Wayne Gretzky Parkway, at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025.

According to Const. Jonathan Bueckert of the OPP, the incident was reported at 11:21 a.m. and involved a transport truck carrying an excavator. The boom was raised and struck the bottom of a bridge, causing debris to scatter across the roadway. Another vehicle was struck by debris, resulting in a broken windshield, but no injuries have been reported.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has taken over the investigation and is awaiting a structural engineer to assess the damage. The highway is expected to remain closed for at least two to three hours while crews work to clear the scene and ensure the bridge’s safety.

As a result, Highway 403 westbound is closed at Wayne Gretzky Parkway, with all traffic being diverted off the highway. Additionally, the Wayne Gretzky Parkway on-ramp to Highway 403 westbound is also closed.
