Two drivers are facing impaired driving charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members conducted several R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoints in Paris over the weekend.
On Saturday August 13, 2022, at approximately 12:12 a.m., Brant County OPP stopped a vehicle that entered the RIDE program on King Edward Street in Paris to check the driver’s sobriety. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.
Police have charged a 35-year-old resident from the County of Brant with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.
On Sunday August 14, 2022, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Brant County OPP stopped a vehicle that entered the RIDE program on William Street in Paris to check the driver’s sobriety. One person was arrested and transported to London OPP detachment for testing.
Police have charged a 25-year-old Cambridge resident with the following offence:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug.
The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
