The Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition (Sports Hall), in partnership with the Sports Hall Selection and Executive Committees, is pleased to announce this year’s Class of 2023 Inductees.

The following individuals will be honoured at the annual Sports Hall Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 and will be showcased in the Sports Hall, located in the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, over the next year in the New Inductee Display Case:

  • Sam Kennedy – Honouree, Builder in the sports of Hockey & Baseball (Posthumous).
  • Ed O’Leary – Honouree, Builder in Sports Journalism (Posthumous).
  • Lynne Andrew – Inductee, Builder in the sport of Basketball.
  • David Gans – Inductee, Athlete in the sport of Hockey.
  • Lonnie Maich – Inductee, Athlete in the sport of Football.

The 2023 Sports Hall Induction Ceremony will take place at the Best Western Brantford Hotel and Conference Centre on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in attending may reserve tickets online by Monday June 5, 2023 at bit.ly/2023InductionCeremony.

About the Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition

The Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition, located inside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, proudly recognizes both Athletes and Sport Builders in Brantford, the County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who have achieved the highest standards of excellence in their chosen sport.

The Sports Hall features various artefact and memorabilia displays honouring the hometown heroes that have contributed to sport in their communities. The 3,000 sq. ft. space features the Wayne Gretzky tribute area with Mini Theatre highlighting memorable moments from the Great One’s career, an Interactive Inductee Zone, Wall of Recognition, Trivia Game and Broadcast Booth.
