Brantford man wins $100,000 on instant scratch ticket

Local NewsBrantford man wins $100,000 on instant scratch ticket

William Newman of Brantford won $100,000 on an instant scratch ticket.

Newman, a truck driver, has been playing the lottery with OLG for many years. He usually plays jackpot games like LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49, but it was an INSTANT 5X VORTEX ticket that led him to his first big win.

“I played my ticket in my truck in the store parking lot and realized it was a winner,” Newman recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “In disbelief, I went into the store to have my ticket validated and the lottery terminal froze. That’s when reality started to sink in; I’d really won! I began to shake and called my partner right away to share the news. She was just as shocked as I was and only believed me when I sent her a picture of the ticket.”

“Having never experienced anything like this before, I think it will really feel real when I see all those zeros in my bank account,” Newman concluded, with a chuckle.

With his winnings, Newman plans to pay some bills.
