Brantford police arrest man in connection to double shooting

Brantford Police ServiceBrantford police arrest man in connection to double shooting

Brantford police say they’ve arrested a man who shot two people over the weekend.

Both of the victims were hospitalized, and one remains in critical condition.

The initial call took place on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Officers say they were called out to a shooting at an address on King Street around 8:20 p.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located two adult, male victims inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds,” police said in a statement Monday.

A short while after the men were taken to hospital police were able to track down the shooter.

Police say they arrested their suspect without incident near Sarah Street and Murray Street at 8:45 p.m.

A 23-year-old man from Brampton was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault and several firearm-related offences.

Along with his arrest, a firearm “believed to have been used in the incident” was recovered.

The department says that it’s not looking for any additional suspects, nor does it believe this shooting to be a random event.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to contact them by phone at 519-756-7050.
