BPS charge Brantford man with Uttering Threats

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a Nelson Street location after receiving a report of a disturbance involving two men at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023,

It was reported that one of the men had threatened the other before departing the area on foot. The accused was reported to be in possession of a knife.

Officers attended and quickly located the accused at a Market Street location. The accused was arrested. The knife which was alleged to have been utilized in the incident was located nearby.

As a result, a 43-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Uttering Threats

Brantford man facing Assault charges after incident

On Thursday, August 15, 2023, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call related to an assault at a Marlene Avenue residence.

A man was reported to have caused a disturbance within the residence, allegedly threatening on-site security with a knife before leaving the building on foot.

Information received indicated the accused was in violation of a judicial release and a valid court order.

Officers attended, located, and arrested the accused nearby.

As a result, a 34-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Assault with a Weapon 
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm 
  • Failure to Comply with Judicial Release 
  • Disobeying Court Order 

The accused was held for a bail hearing. 

27-year-old man charged with Operation while Impaired

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call reporting a suspicious vehicle in the area of Lynden Road and Roy Boulevard at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

A concerned citizen called to report a male was unconscious in the driver seat of the vehicle. The caller had attempted to wake the man but was unable to.

Officers arrived on scene, and observed the man awake and speaking with attending EMS. Officers observed signs of impairment and drug paraphernalia. 

The accused was placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, and was transported to submit to a drug evaluation. It the opinion of the drug recognition expert that the accused was impaired. 

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violation: 

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs 

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded, and the licence of the driver was suspended.

BPS charge woman after single vehicle collision

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call to report a possible impaired driver in the area of Blackfriar Lane and Brier Park Road on Friday, August 11, 2023.

At approximately 6:10 p.m., a single motor vehicle collision occurred when the subject vehicle collided with a hydro pole at West Street near Fleet Street.

Officers arrived on scene and, in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.

The accused was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation, and was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.

As a result, a 33-year-old female resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded, and the licence of the driver was suspended.
