Brantford man facing Assault charge after incident with woman

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at approximately 12:10 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a report of an assault involving a man and a woman outside a Darling Street location.

Investigation revealed that a verbal dispute between the two, escalated to physical violence, resulting in the female victim receiving minor physical injuries.

Officers attended the scene, located, and arrested the accused man.

Information received indicated the accused was in violation of a valid Probation Order.

As a result, a 41-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Assault
  • Breach Probation

64-year-old male facing Operation while Impaired charge

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call to report a possible impaired driver in the parking lot of a restaurant located on King George Road near Kent Road.

It was reported that the driver was observed by several witnesses to have nearly struck a parked vehicle.

Officers attended, located the accused with the suspect vehicle. Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to perform a Drug Recognition Evaluation as required by law. It was determined that the accused’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug. When requested to perform additional testing as required by law, the accused refused the demand. 

As a result, a 64-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation While Impaired 
  • Refusal to Comply with a Demand 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded. 

Brantford Police charge man with Impaired Operation

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Memorial Drive and Hayhurst Road at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle on Memorial Drive, parked and running. A man was observed in the driver’s seat. The man was unresponsive.

After several attempts, officers successfully woke the man. Speaking with the accused, signs of impairment were observed. Additionally, open cans of alcohol were observed in clear view. 

The accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to provide samples of breath and submit to a Drug Recognition Evaluation as required by law. Both samples of breath indicated that the accused was impaired by alcohol and Drug Recognition Evaluation determined that the accused’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was also impaired by drug.

As a result, a 30-year-old, male non-resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Combined Blood Alcohol and Blood Drug Concentration

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

29-year-old man facing Theft charge

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a Belhome Street residence after receiving a report of property theft at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023.

A number of items were reported stolen from the property of the residence. 

Through police investigation, a suspect was identified.

As a result, a 29-year-old male, non-resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violation:

  • Theft Under $5,000
