Brantford Red SoxBrantford Red Sox owners looking to sell IBL franchise

The current owners of the Brantford Red Sox baseball team officially announced their intention to find the right ownership group to lead the franchise into a bright future on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Connie and Rick Pomerleau, co-owners of the Red Sox, made the pivotal decision in the best interests of the team and its loyal fans.

“The Brantford Red Sox are excited to be working with Cosmos Sports & Entertainment as we take the next step to ensure the future success of our 114- year-old IBL franchise. The sale of the historic team will enable us to grow and succeed moving forward,” said Connie Pomerleau.

The Red Sox are determined to find owners who will be committed to maintaining the principles and values of the longstanding franchise. The Red Sox will continue to provide high-quality baseball and family entertainment at an affordable price.

Cosmos Sports & Entertainment, a leading sports marketing firm in Canada now in its 21st year, have been retained to help facilitate the deal and ensure the team finds like minded partners.

In 2024, Cosmos handled all aspects of the very successful sales of the IBL’s Kitchener Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Maple Leafs Chief Operating Officer Ty Crawford expanded on the sale saying, “Cosmos Sports did an excellent job in managing all aspects of selling the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team; Without them, the deal would not have happened.”

Cary Kaplan, President of Cosmos Sports & Entertainment, added, “The IBL is simply iconic and has been a big part of thousands of fans’ lives in the various Ontario cities for the good part of a century. We will ensure that the new owners of the Brantford Red Sox are committed to the long-term success and sustainability of the team in Brantford and Brant County, and that they further represent the values of the current management.”
