Members of the Six Nations Police were on general patrol when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on 5th Line at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
The vehicle was driving erratically so a traffic stop was conducted of the vehicle. Police approached the vehicle and observed a female driver and multiple passengers inside the vehicle, including a toddler in a car seat. Police confirmed the identity of the female driver.
Signs of impairment were observed, and the driver was read an Approved Screening Device demand to check the sobriety of the driver. As the officer was explaining the use of the ASD device, the female drove away from the traffic stop. Police did not pursue the vehicle. The driver was later arrested.
As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged a female from Brantford, Ontario with the following offences:
– Dangerous Operation
– Flight from Police
– Failure or Refusal to Comply with Breath Screening Device
– Necessaries of Life – Child or Spouse
The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the child. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford, Ontario on a later date.
